A journey through time in search of sundials.
PROGRAM
1st DAY
Arrive during the morning in Turin. The day will begin with a preliminary tour of the city, including visits on foot and by bus to the most well-known and important piazzas in Turin: from Piazza Castello to Piazza San Carlo, and from Piazza Carignano to Piazza Carlo Alberto.
During the informative tour, particular attention will be paid to the various sundials that adorn the Olympic city. At the end of the preliminary tour, stop off at the Valentino, a medieval-style village and an extremely important open-air museum, built in 1884.
In the afternoon, visit to the Egyptian Museum, the second most important museum of its kind in the world after Cairo. At the end of the visit, free time will be available for shopping.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
2nd DAY
Breakfast in the hotel. Set off during the morning for Ala di Stura in the Lanzo Valleys. Visit to the Sundial Museum and an introduction to the history of solar clocks and the techniques used in their design. Visit of the sundials in the town of Ala di Stura. In the late morning, transfer to the Val Grande, lunch in a restaurant with a menu based on local specialities from the Lanzo Valleys.
In the afternoon, a brief wood carving course involving the construction of a sundial. Return to Turin.
